The "Boulevardiers" ended up winning in the proverbial "squeaker," but both the winning and losing team's run count were half those of the respective teams in the Mets game . . . and while happy fans filed out of the "SINO" onto the #4 and D trains, their arrogant smugness is tempered by the Mets' win.

W.B.:

The "AYF" base, for sure, aren't at all happy with the Mets winning FOUR straight games, but al, that they were in the spotlight with "Mrs. Met" being inducted into the Mascot Hall Of Fame.......... ... Rolling Eyes

Might that mean the "coyce" of Hizzoner hugging Mr. Met was somehow lifted?

W.B.:

That "coyce" that hit the Mets, courtesy of "Hizzoner" may very well have evaporated with all this extreme heat and humidity..... Rolling Eyes

Meanwhile, leave it to the insufferable "Boulevardiers" to win in yet another "squeaker" . . .

Mets update............

Looks like it wasn't in the cards for the Mets to win FIVE games in a row. Sad

The "AYFs", no doubt, are again inflating their swollen egos even more....... Sad

I heard on 1010 WINS that, at today's "Old Timer's Day" up at the "SINO", an ailing Tommy John said good-bye to the Yankees and his fans.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_John

Eerie echoes of that long-ago day, when the great Gherig told the world that "....he was the luckiest man on the face of the earth.....", after learning he had not long to live.

Sad....... Sad

Indeed; they weren't even on the scoreboard, alas, alack.

Yeah, wouldn't Mr. John have qualified among the Yankee greats (as opposed to "Boulevardier Grates," none of whom would qualify to even shine Mr. Gehrig's shoes)?

W.B.:

In TOTAL agreement with you! Very Happy

IMHO, the last TRUE "Boulevardier" was Jeter.("The Cap'n")

As much as I root for the Amazins, it's like the "Boulevardiers"......all NAMES that I really cannot "vonnect" with, as was so easy to do with BOTH teams, back in the day.......
